Hi,
I'm Nicky. I trained as a primary school teacher and taught in schools for over 20 years. Later in my career, I began teaching English to adults too. I really enjoy teaching.
My mother was a seamstress and learned to sew when she was 14. She made most of my clothes growing up. Being interested in fashion, I would often help her to hurry things up a bit, so I kind of learned to sew by osmosis. A lot of my sewing has been functional, curtains, cushions, a bit of upholstery, but also making clothes for me and my family.
In 2014 I decided to put the two things I love together and started Sew Enjoyable. Since then I have taught hundreds of people how to sew and got them started on their sewing journeys. One new sewist told me that her first sewing lesson had been life changing. And that is so true.
Sewing is such a great hobby. I do feel it promotes well being and is a great way to switch off from all the stress that can surround us. Not to mention how useful a skill it is, especially when we are trying to live sustainably.
My classes are mainly here in my home. I have a nice big room with lots of light, and room for up to 4 people, so your classes will be very small. That means you will get lots of attention and won't be lost in a crowd. Occasionally, I teach at Fashion n Fabrics, just up the road and at CLP in Watford, but these are not administered by me.
